Ve Vídni se seznámil s českým novinářem, který mu doporučil studia u Aloise Kalvody v Praze. Po 5 letech studií v jeho krajinářské škole se umělecky osamostatnil. Měl silný vliv na své současníky (Bazovský, Ondreička,...). Mezi válkami maloval v Kosticích, Týnci, Lanžhotě, Ratíškovicích a Rohatci. Kromě malby krajin výraznou pozornost přilákal soubor šesti interiérů slováckých jizeb. Často tvořil v okolí Bratislavy a Spišska. Cestoval po Itálii a Francii, vystavoval doma i v zahraničí (Vídeň, Benátky,...).
Nejvyšší dosažená cena za dílo tohoto autora v aukci: 4 780 000 Kč.
